Guests of honor at the dual event include the Ryder Cup trophy and blue golf pioneer Costantino Rocca. The first Italian to take part in the Ryder Cup in 1993, Rocca was born in Bergamo, grew up on the Orobic Green and still lives in Bergamo today.
Costantino was also part of the European Ryder Cup team in 1995 when he made a hole in one. Then he surpassed Tiger Woods in 1997. Costantino Rocca also boasts a second-place finish at the British Open. In Lombardy, a region with a great golfing tradition, this event is not to be missed as hundreds of people will be curious and pick up a club for the first time.
Someone will challenge a friend with putter in hand. Some kids will experience the thrill of potting the ball. Federgolf’s goal is to get people to discover an ever-growing sport for all up close and enrich the territory from north to south.
The will to focus on tourism is one of the essential points of the Ryder Cup project. The event is scheduled for the first time in Italy six months after the competition in Rome, the third sporting event worldwide.
Let’s remember: it will be played in the week from September 25th to October 1st at the Marco Simone Golf Course in Guidonia Montecelio. Where Luke Donald’s Europe team meets Zach Johnson’s USA team.
