The historic Vecchio Palace, which was the building where Florence, a feudal state in the Middle Ages, was ruled and today houses the Florence Mayor’s Office, was attacked by climate activists.
Two climate activists came to the Vecchio Palace at noon and sprayed orange paint filled with fire extinguishers on the wall of the building.
The Mayor of Florence, Nardella, who saw the activists’ movement by chance, intervened personally and tried to stop the event. With the help of the municipal police, Nardella took the fire extinguisher away from a demonstrator.
In the scenes that were also reflected on social media, Nardella was very angry with the demonstrators and said to someone, “What the hell are you doing!” It was seen that he came out with his words.
Afterwards, Nardella also participated in the cleaning works with the employees.

Nardella also drew attention to the drought in the country due to lack of water, and noted that environmentalists used 5 thousand liters of water to wipe the paint used in the attack from the building wall.
